Plymouth Argyle's academy team take on West Ham United in the SuperCupNI Semi-finals.
Argyle heartbreakingly lost on penalties against West Ham United at the semi-final stage of the SuperCupNI.
The game finished 2-2 at full-time, but United prevailed 4-2 in the shoot-out.
West Ham had the better of the first half, and took the lead midway through via Xavier Parker, but Argyle equalised close to the end of the first half. Good pressing from the Greens saw Joe Mwaro win the ball back inside the area, with Billy Devlin sweeping home.
The Young Pilgrims started the second half well, but the Hammers regained their advantage from Parker’s second goal of the game, and it looked like they would retain their lead to the end. However, substitute Harry Truscott scored with only moments remaining, sending the game to a penalty shoot-out.
Sadly, West Ham won the day, but it was a highly spirited and admirable performance by an Argyle team led by James Bradley, and it has been a superb week. Argyle won all their group games without conceding a goal, and took a Premier League outfit all the way in the semi-final.
The week will now conclude with a third place play-off against County Armagh at Castlerock at 2pm on Friday.
Argyle: Leo McCormick, Liam Uren (Harry Truscott), Tobias MacClean, Jacob Turner, Ashdon Pearse-Horwell, Billy Devlin, Joe Mwaro, Alfie Tai (Joel Tolcher), Jared Rendle, Oliver Evans, Dylan Williams (Kye Chapple).
