At Bond Timber we are proudly celebrating our 20th anniversary!
The business has come on leaps and bounds since Bake Sawmill was acquired by WH Bond & Sons Ltd in February 2003
WH Bond & Sons started out as a family farming business founded by Mr William Hermon. By 1997 the next generation – Jon, Chris and Alison Bond take over the running of the business. Having acquired Bake Sawmill as part of the land at Trerulefoot, the family decide to take over the company and re-brand it as Bond Timber.
Since then, the business has changed dramatically, and grown to be one of the leading timber merchants in the South West with award winning treatment services.
Shaun joined the business as manager that February. At the time the business was selling timber to local trade and farmers and operating one 16ft tanalising treatment vessel for tanalising which was supplied by Hicks (Arxada today).
After growing the local trade and retail business, the company developed a sales team to grow merchant and a large trade customer base extending its offering through Cornwall and South and mid Devon.
Memorable milestones:
2006 – Bake Sawmill became Bond Timber.
2007- WH Bond & Sons celebrated 50 years in business.
2008 – Installation of a vacsol treatment vessel,
2009 – Treatment facilities expanded, achieved ISO9001 accreditation.
2015 – The team won their first award at the Wood Protection Association for Quality Excellence!
2016 – Expansion of the site with a new 8400ft of timber storage.
2017 – The business achieved ISO14001:2015 accreditation and installed an Excalibur incisor complimenting treatment facilities.
2018 – Installed a new tanalith 20ft tilt treatment vessel.
2019 up until the present day:
The site has continued to expand, the business has developed the treatment business further and seen huge growth in demand for highway’s treatment.
In striving to offer the best customer service, the business has recently invested in an ecommerce website, digital delivery app and a web-based development app for trade customers.
