We are delighted to have been involved in the Helston Flood Alleviation Scheme for principle contractor Kier Infrastructure, which has won a hat-trick of awards!
Since the project was completed last year, it has won the 2021 Sustainability Award at the  Ground Engineering Awards, The 2021 Green Apple Environment Award for helping the environment and the ICE South West Civil Engineering 2021 Award for Project under £8m Re-Engineered.
Working alongside the Environment Agency, the project saw the construction of new defences covering 600m along the River Cober, completed in time for the first winter storm. The scheme has significantly reduced the risk of flooding along the eastern bank of the river from 20% to 1% in any one year, better protecting 121 homes. WH Bond began works for Kier Infrastructure on the project in February 2020 and with it being such a complex and sensitive scheme, required many specialists skills from our bespoke contracting division. Chris Bond comments “We are thrilled to see everyone’s hard work recognised with these highly valued awards and would also like to say a huge congratulations to Ian Fawcus, Project Manager at Kier Infrastructure on being awarded a 2021 ICE Carbon Champion.”
